Bernie Pearl - Some Booking Background and Details

I'd like anyone looking to book a blues act for a gig, be it club, private party, festival, or whatever, to consider what I have to offer.

Acoustic/Solo Blues Show

As a solo blues guitarist , acoustic or amplified, I bring to the stage a large repertoire of country and urban blues, as well as original instrumentals. I often add a bassist for that type of show.

The Bernie Pearl Blues Band (electric)

Since 1984 I have performed the electric blues with my own Bernie Pearl Blues Band . Currently, I appear mostly with a four-piece group (guitar, keys, bass, drums), adding musicians as the job demands. It's a regular ongoing ensemble, and not a pick-up band.

My Background in the Blues

I was irresistibly drawn to the blues I heard during the 1950's, and I was fortunate to have had the great Brownie McGhee as my first teacher and mentor. I draw on the experience of having seen most of the living blues greats of the last 45 years, and having shared the stage with many, including: Lightnin' Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, Fred MacDowell, Big Mama Thornton, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Koko Taylor, Freddie King, Charles Brown, Harmonica Fats, Papa John Creach, Lowell Fulson, JB Hutto, Big Joe Turner, Otis Rush, and more. My band even backed up B.B. King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan once in Hollywood.

Listen to the CDs

To get a good idea of my acoustic style, listen to “Bernie Pearl, Live at Boulevard Music” presented on this site. The “Papa Blues” CD, featuring the late Papa John Creach, was produced by myself, and featured the violinist backed by my band. We all, including Papa, were very proud of the result. It illustrates but one aspect of our music.

Booking Fee

What I ask depends on the nature of the engagement: where, when, how large, how many pieces, how long, how much preparation before the music starts, etc. , are all variables affecting the money. However, I can say that I'm reasonable and want to work. No reasonable offer will be turned down. In real blues life, prices are negotiable.

“Supposing I'm interested in booking, what's the next step?”

It's simple. Just get in touch via e-mail, or call me at (562) 426-071. Let's talk!
