"...an irreducible love for the fullest dimensions of the art." "Take Your Time is ample demonstration that no matter how long you work at it, the guitar and the blues contain depths that just keep opening up. And that's what you get this time out: the added luster, warmth, and degree of exposition that comes only of toil, discretion, long familiarity..."

Best "Acoustic Blues Album" 2014 Nomination!
Dear Friends I'm honored and overjoyed to announce that our latest recording, "Take Your Time", has been nominated by the Blues Blast Music Awards' "Best Acoustic Album"!
Hats off to my talented colleagues: co-producer and bassist Mike Barry, percussionist Albert "The Beatman" Trepagnier, Jr., superb tenor man Bobby "Hurricane" Spencer, and our extraordinary guest vocalist Barbara Morrison. Many thanks also to the man whose keen ear and exquisite taste gave us an extraordinarily beautiful sound, engineer de luxe Glenn Nishida at Pacifica Studios. As you may know, my brother Ed Pearl opened an historic club nearly 57 years ago, the Ash Grove, which quite literally played a major role in changing America's musical tastes in the 1960's and beyond. On Sunday afternoon, July 11 he will be celebrating the opening of the club exactly 57 years earlier at exactly the same location, 8162 Melrose Ave., the site of the current Improv Comedy Club. With vocalist supreme Barbara Morrison, the Bernie Pearl Blues Band will open the show at 2:00. Entertainment will run until 5:30, and all proceeds will go towards funding the completion of the documentary film on the club. Many notables, all of whom played the club, have been interviewed and filmed thus far, including: Pete Seeger, Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal, and more. More information and a complete list of artists. Soon. Save the date.
"POETRY GETS THE BLUES" A note from Ed Pearl
It gives memuch pleasure to announce that my brothers Sherman and Bernie Pearl will perform their "Poetry Gets the Blues" program at Beyond Baroque on Sundayevening, May 31st., 8 p.m. Sherm will read from his newbook of poems"Elegy for Myself", and Bernie will do a set of his masterful renditions of the blues, accompanied by bassist Mike Barry.
Both were involved in the early days of the Ash Grove, Sherm as a greeter and publicist, Bernie as a youngster learning his art from many of the blues greats who performed there.
This is a show you don't want to miss--especially since it's a celebration of Sherman's book, with appropriate refreshments served.
